Christmas is truly the season of giving. It is the time of year when our community bands together. For those of us with children, it is also a time when the young ones ask for every toy they see on TV in hopes that Santa will leave it under their trees. Christmas in the Wards was set up to give good ol’ Saint Nick a helping hand.
Over the past 16 years, Christmas in the Wards, with the help of sponsor companies like Western Utility, has brought smiles, joy and the true spirit of the holidays to thousands of deserving families. Through giving partnerships and sponsorships, the program has raised more than $1,000,000!
“We believe that children need to have fulfilling childhood experiences that make them feel special, like receiving gifts at Christmas,” said Tim Hayes, president of Western Utility. “By sponsoring Christmas in the Wards, we are able to help so many children in the Chicago area experience the magic of the holiday,” he added.
Christmas in the Wards began as Christmas in Englewood, founded by local businessman and Riteway-Huggins Construction CEO, Larry Huggins. His commitment to the community continues to make the annual Christmas in the Wards a tremendous success. From its inception, Mr. Huggins’ passion to give back and make a difference has garnered broad support from community leaders and the business community.
