On August 20, Western Utility sponsored and participated in the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association’s (HACIA) 28th Annual Golf Outing. The event was held at Silver Lakes Country Club in Orland Park, Ill. from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and included lunch, dinner, raffles and networking.
“The HACIA Golf Outing combines opportunities for networking and business outreach with fun on the golf course,” said Bill Sanchez, director of business development, who attended the event on behalf of Western Utility. “And, the event raises money for programs and scholarships that benefit the organization’s members, its employees and our local Hispanic community,” he added.
Western Utility is an active member of HACIA. Major partners of HACIA include the City of Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority, the Chicago Housing Authority, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the Illinois Department of Transportation, to name a few.
Proceeds from the event for the not-for-profit organization go largely to the organization’s Scholarship Foundation, which provides on-going training and educational services to member businesses and their employees. The Foundation’s mission is to award undergraduate students financial awards to assist them with the completion of their construction related degrees. In addition, the Foundation strives to promote awareness of professional career opportunities and continues to raise the bar in its goal to promote future leaders in the Hispanic community.
Founded in 1979, HACIA works to ensure the equitable participation of its constituents in the construction industry, while also promoting the growth, quality of work, professionalism and integrity of these individuals and businesses.
