Western Utility – a construction leader throughout the Midwest providing telecom, electric, pipeline, water and sewer construction and maintenance services – was recently recognized by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) for safety performance. The award specifically honors Western Utility’s Pipeline Division for working in excess of 47,000 work-hours throughout 2015.
“Safety is a key component of our company culture at Western Utility,” said Tim Hayes, president, Western Utility. “The health and safety of our work sites is and has always been our top priority,” he explained. “Even one injury is unacceptable to our team.”
Western Utility accepted an award plaque for the recognition at a luncheon recently held by the Cooperative Contractor Safety Committee, a group of contractors that work for NIPSCO that formed a safety committee to take a team approach to safety on NIPSCO projects. More than 28 contractors are involved in the committee, originally formed in 2005.
