Western Utility recently held its annual safety seminar on June 10, 2016 at the IUOE Local 399 in Chicago. The training topic was Crystalline Silica Awareness and the New Crystalline Silica OSHA Standard for Construction, presented by John Dimos, CIH, of John Dimos, MS, CIH Independent Industrial Hygiene Services Professional.
“We are committed to our goal or zero injuries,” said Tim Hayes, President, Western Utility. “Our safety meetings, weekly statistical analysis and daily safety huddles on our job sites will help us move
closer to that goal,” he added.
More than 100 office and field personnel attended the mandatory meeting, which included breakfast and presentations by the safety management team. All who attended also received a company sweatshirt, safety T-shirt and coozie.
More than a dozen high-value gifts were also raffled off to the crowd, including Sox tickets, Cubs tickets and several $100 gift cards from stores such as Home Depot and local area restaurants.
“At the end of the day, having all of our people go home safe to their families is our motivation and if we work together as a team, I am confident we will be successful,” Hayes concluded.
