In recent months, Western Utility has been involved in a couple of charitable events to benefit our community.
The first even was the Make A Wish Annual Golf Outing. Western Utility once again participated in the Make A Wish Foundation Annual Golf Outing for the Will-Grundy County areas. As a Gold Sponsorship, the company sponsored a local child who needed a heart transplant.
“This was not just a golf outing,” said Bill Sanchez, director of business development, who attended the event on behalf of Western Utility. “This was our company’s chance to help make a wish for a sick child in our community come true,” he added. This is the third consecutive year that Western Utility has sponsored this event.
Every year, nearly 1,200 children in Illinois are newly diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish® believes that wishes are an important part of the overall care and treatment of these children. Each wish offers the opportunity for a joyous, life-changing experience. Since 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 13,000 wishes to children across the state with the support of 1,400 volunteers and numerous donors and other supporters. In addition to Make A Wish, Western Utility was also an active sponsor for Chicago Football Classic that supports local African-American college bound students with scholarships. Western Utility donated $10,000 to the charity event and foundation.
