Western Utility would like to introduce Matt Welton, who joined Western in August 2016 as a Senior Project Manager. With nearly a decade of industry experience, he is responsible for overseeing multiple projects, mostly within our Telecom and Water/Sewer Divisions.
“We are excited to have Matt on board with us,” said Tim Hayes, President of Western Utility. “His experience managing complex, multi-million-dollar, industrial construction projects has given him a solid foundation,” he added. “Matt hit the ground running and has already closed out 20 projects in his four months with us. I know he will continue to be a great asset to Western Utility.”
Matt joined Western having worked for another large general contractor where he was responsible for managing several multi-million-dollar transportation construction projects throughout the state of Illinois. He served as project engineer and was promoted to project manager shortly after joining his previous company. Matt received a B.S. in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in construction management from Illinois State University.
“I joined Western Utility in large part for the great company culture and people I would be working with, but quickly came to appreciate our long-term approach to building client relationships,” Matt shared. “It’s great to work side by side with our Western team, clients and subcontractors in a true partnership,” he explained. “The atmosphere is flexible and open to the best way to get the job done.”
Currently, Matt is managing a list of 34 active projects, including a fiber installation for Telecom client Call One at the Main Township High School System and a water main project in Morris, Illinois in the Ridgecrest subdivision for Water/Sewer client American Water Illinois. He has successfully closed out 20 projects since he joined the company in August.
Matt lives in Manhattan, Illinois, with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, water skiing and snow skiing.
